DIY Salt Dough Ornaments

Easy craft projects are totally my jam. I love DIY’s but am very impatient.  So this is another quick and easy holiday project. You probably made these way back in preschool or kindergarten, but they are the perfect little neutral touch to a Christmas tree.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 cup of salt
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • holiday cookie cutters
  • parchment paper

IMG_4141Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Stir together the ingredients and knead until mixed.  Roll the dough out to about 1/4 of an inch or so.  Cut out the shapes and use a plastic straw or something similar to make a little hole at the top of each one. (When your mother-in-law is an incredible cookie baker, she hooks you up with some great cutters!)

Place all on the parchment paper and bake for about 2 1/2 hours until dry. Once cool, add some string and they are ready to be placed the tree.
