Things were just meant to be when we started planning our trip back out west. With free airline miles, hotel points, and rental car credit, this trip was an easy one to get on the books. We knew we wanted to go someplace new, so we decided on Portland, Oregon. The plan for the trip? “Go places and eat things.”
And did we ever. After our early morning flight and hotel check in, we hit the ground running. Dill and I knew we wanted to explore the city, so we dropped our bags off and headed out for food, drinks, and tons of pictures. 9 miles later, I’d say we were successful.
Dill and I walked around the entire city. We stopped to eat a few times actually, naturally needing some beverages as well. Tacos at a little food truck were a perfect snack. We ended up eating lunch at Red Star Tavern before figuring out a plan of action. The city itself is easy to navigate. I loved walking up and down the city streets. Stumptown Coffee Roasters was the ultimate goal of the day. What a cool place. Super simple, mod, and they really let the coffee speak for itself. So after some java, we were ready for Voodoo donuts. Delicious. (How can you go wrong with big Oreo and Captain Crunch donuts?) We then ventured to explore the rest of the city and take some photos!
Dillon was dying to find this sign! It was so much bigger than I actually thought it was. It was fun making our way around to find the best place to snap a photo.
Not going to pretend I was ok with this shot^^^
I think we walked around so much that we started passing the same people. It was crazy! But we ended up at Powell’s Books (5 stories of books on books….PUNNY) and Deschutes Brewery in between some amazing photo ops. On our way back we saw this really neat Apple store. Complete floor to ceiling windows, and just outside were the cable lines for the TriMet. Oh, so Portland.
I’ll say we met some really fun people who really helped us as we explored. They gave us some fun suggestions for adventures, and ultimately persuaded us to rent a car for our day 2 journey! After 9 miles of roaming Portland by foot, we slept great that first night in the PNW.
